A Message from Executive Director Rose Mukhar &Justice At Last's Board of Directors
Dear Community & Friends of Justice At Last,
We hope and trust that this email finds you and your loved ones safe and well. Justice At Last’s top priority and commitment is the safety and health of our staff, clients, partners, and community. We're writing to share what we're doing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our Staff
To do our part in slowing the spread of the coronavirus, Justice At Last staff are working from home and have temporarily suspended all in-person client meetings.
To provide additional support to our clients and community at this time, our Staff has developed a brief resource guide that answers common questions about what to expect with legal representation while the world is responding to COVID-19. We hope this guide will be useful to many people, so encourage you to share it with anyone who might benefit from the information.
Our Clients
Despite our inability to see our clients face-to-face, we are working to provide them with as much information as possible regarding court closures and their impact on temporary restraining orders and other issues pertaining to legal representation. We are also working closely with our clients to continue providing holistic wrap-around services, which they need now more than ever.
Many of our clients work in restaurants, hospitality, and other hourly wage occupations directly impacted by recent lay-offs, reduced hours, and shutdowns due to COVID-19. As a result, they are facing new challenges in meeting their basic needs and require additional legal representation to help them access unemployment benefits, disability insurance, and victim compensation.
How You Can Help
Even as we remain committed to providing these additional services and rapidly responding to evolving client needs, we must recognize that much of the cost of this response was unanticipated, and therefore is currently unfunded.
We are therefore reaching out to our community - to you - to ask for your help. Would you consider a gift to Justice At Last to help us and our clients weather this storm?
This is an unprecedented time in all of our lives, and we understand that COVID-19 is affecting every single member of our community in myriad ways. We know that not everyone can donate at this time. Please know how much we value every single member of our community, regardless of their ability to give monetarily.
Again, we hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe and well.
With warmest regards,
Rose Mukhar, Executive Director,
Andy Lincoln, Board Chair, &
The Board of Directors of Justice At Last
