MAKING A DIFFERENCE
After a long, drawn-out couple of weeks during the height and anticipation of the presidential election, in the midst of a global pandemic, and mass uprisings, it is understandable to be feeling anxious and stressed. Our work is necessary because of, and has always existed in the midst of oppressive systems, and this current moment highlights this fact. For our clients, the current moment has meant an increase in housing and job insecurity, childcare issues, and increased vulnerability to trafficking. The support of the greater community is necessary for us to do our work, and ultimately, to end systems of oppression that allow for trafficking to exist.
We are excited to invite you to our first Virtual Community Outreach, which will be held on Saturday, December 5th, from 4-5pm via Zoom. The event will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the work that we do, learn about COVID-19's impact on trafficked persons, and how you can be a part of the powerful work. A brief agenda for the event’s proceedings has been outlined below:
Senator Scott Wiener of the 11th Senate District of San Francisco and San Mateo counties
Andy Lincoln, Board Chair
Rose Mukhar, Founder and Executive Director of Justice At Last
Carolyn Kim, Managing Attorney
Marti MacGibbon, Justice At Last Advisor and Author of Never Give in to Fear and Fierce, Funny and Female
Jeena Cho, Author of The Anxious Lawyer
