Thank You for #GivingJustice2021 and Bringing Awareness to Suicide
With heartfelt appreciation and excitement, we are proud to share with you the great success of the Justice At Last annual fundraiser! We wanted to thank every person who donated and helped spread the word of our #GivingJustice2021 campaign. Thanks to all of your efforts we were able to exceed our intended goal and raise…
$62,154
We wanted to give shout out and special recognition to the entire Justice At Last Board of Directors for ensuring we had significant matching donations to make the #GivingJustice2021 campaign a great achievement! With all these funds, we will be able to help make a difference in the lives of many trafficking survivors, including helping them achieve justice on their own terms.
To demonstrate how your gifts and support help make a difference, we wanted to share (with permission) a client’s testimonial. We recently represented and supported a client who needed identity documents as she relocated out of state. Many trafficking survivors and those at risk of exploitation do not have a state issued driver’s license or identification card nor a birth certificate and the lack of identification creates additional barriers to accessing benefits and increases further vulnerabilities to trafficking. We not only assisted the client with getting the identification they needed to relocate we also helped them secure benefits to assist with the expenses of relocating. This client shared their thanks with us:
“Your dedication, diligence and hard work is so deeply appreciated—all your clients including me are very lucky to have you."

Additionally, because of all your generosity we will also be able to launch our Pro Bono Academy before this year is up. The Pro Bono Academy is designed to help train attorneys interested in representing trafficked persons with our support and guidance as co-counsel. Thank you so much to all who contributed to our annual Giving Justice campaign, we are truly inspired and motivated by everyone’s generosity!
Recognition Spotlight
We wanted to take a moment to spotlight two individuals who contributed behind-the-scenes to the success of our #GivingJustice2021 Campaign:
Jessica Millar
Jessica serves as our Fundraising Co-Chair. She joined our Board of Directors in 2020 after seeing the incredible work we are doing; fighting legal battles on behalf of victims of human trafficking and helping them achieve justice on their own terms.
Jessica’s leadership with the #GivingJustice2021 campaign has been phenomenal and one of the reasons it was such a great success! Jessica assisted with the setting up the platform we used to run the campaign, and tended to the behind the scenes details to ensure the system was operating properly for you, our donors. We appreciate Jessica’s energy, dedication and excitement about fundraising for Justice At Last and thank her for all the time and effort she invested in this campaign and we are honored to be able to do the work that we do thanks to supporters like Jessica.
Mercedes Tseng
Mercedes shares a deep commitment to the mission of Justice At Last. Our long-time readers and supporters may recognize her name first as our volunteer, then as our Executive Assistant last year. Mercedes created our iconic Lady Justice graphic and we are in awe of her creative ingenuity. While Mercedes transitioned from the role of Executive Assistant to begin building a career in the technology industry, she remains a huge proponent of the work that we do. To showcase her support, Mercedes donated her time and skills to create graphics to support our annual Giving Justice campaign.
Justice At Last is incredibly grateful to Mercedes for volunteering her time and sharing her positive insightful artistic talents and we are honored to be able to continue to do the work that we do thanks to supporters like Mercedes. If you would like to learn more about her work, Mercedes welcomes connecting via LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mercedes-tseng/.
We are so grateful to Jessica and Mercedes and You! Thanks for being there for us and supporting the work we do and for giving justice.
And, please don’t panic if you wanted to donate and missed this campaign, because you can still contribute to Justice At Last. For ways to continue supporting us please click HERE or check out our website if you would like to volunteer or pursue a career with Justice At Last.
Did you know that September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month? Here at Justice At Last we believe it is critical to recognize the signs of suicide and know how to be a supportive ally when it comes to mental health. Our staff will be participating in a suicide prevention training to learn the warning signs, communication tips for working with someone in crisis, risk assessment, de-escalation and safety planning. We wanted to make sure you were aware of an incredible resource we trust, including The Trevor Project that provides a national supportive network for LGBTQ+ youth that feel they are in crisis, have suicidal thoughts, or in need of a safe no-judgement zone to talk. We encourage you to check out some suicide prevention ideas from the Suicide Prevention Resource Center and learn more through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline or call
