On January 28th from 1-3 pm PST we are spotlighting the Justice At Last Advisory Council and hosting a discussion about why it is so critical that subject matter experts with a variety of lived experiences be in leadership roles AND are compensated for their expertise.
We are not talking about getting paid a $25 gift card to Starbucks or a “free” dinner at a fundraising gala where the survivor is expected to share their trafficking experiences with the entire audience. That’s called tokenism and often results in the exploitation of the survivor the organization was supposed to be serving. We are instead calling for experts to be treated with dignity and compensated appropriately for their expertise.
